In the novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms, Zhao Hao's life is roughly equivalent to the official history. He is nine feet long, good at shooting and very strategic. He was a miscellaneous general, guarding Hexi. Sima Yi recommended Zhao Hao to guard Chencang to stop the Shu army. Cao Sou was appointed general of Zhenxi. The Shu army approached Chencang, and Zhuge Liang sent Wei Yan to attack. After several days of failure, Zhuge Liang was furious and wanted to cut it. Zhao Hao fellow Jin Xiang came to lobby Zhao Hao, but Zhao Hao refused to surrender. Zhuge Liang led 300,000 troops to storm, but Zhao Hao refused to defend 3,000. Zhuge Liang used the ladder and the car to fill the moat, which was solved by Zhao Hao. After more than 20 days of stalemate, Zhuge Liang is at his wit's end. Later, he took the opportunity to retreat because of lack of food, and killed Xinmeile Co., Ltd. at the intersection of Chencang. Zhuge Liang discovered that Zhao Hao was seriously ill before the Third Northern Expedition and sent troops before Zhang He's rescue. Zhao Hao groaned and suddenly heard the news that Shu soldiers had arrived at the gate, and people were eager to defend the city. But the doors were on fire and the city was in chaos. Zhao Hao was shocked to death, but Chen Cang was finally broken. Afterwards, Zhuge Liang died pitifully and sent his wife and little helper back to Wei to show his loyalty.
