Development history

China has a history of carpet weaving for two years. As early as the Yuan Dynasty, there was a workshop specialized in preparing carpets for the imperial palace, which developed greatly in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. In the first year of Yongzheng in Qing Dynasty, there were nine carpet weavers in Beijing Weaving and Dyeing Bureau to weave carpets for the emperor. During the Xianfeng period, a large number of Tibetan carpet weavers went to Beijing, and handmade carpets became more prosperous in Beijing.

The weaving technique of court carpets originated from the court and declined in the Qing Dynasty. In order to make a living, these craftsmen started to open carpet shops in Beijing. After the establishment of People's Republic of China (PRC), 1956, 1 Beijing Carpet Factory was established by public-private partnership. In 2003, under the leadership of experts, Beijing Carpet Factory No.5 set up a research group to rescue the rolled gold silk carpet. In 2005, the first roll of gold silk carpet was woven.

The gold thread of the gold plate is only wound on the front warp. Before winding gold, wind it clockwise with cotton thread. This step is mainly to protect the back of the gold thread. After the cotton thread is wound, the gold thread is wound counterclockwise on the front warp, then turned back to the end, and the above steps are repeated in the opposite direction, thus weaving this row of gold threads.
