Does Mazu really exist in history?
Mazu, formerly known as Moline, was born in Qingyuan Road, Meizhou Bay, Putian County (now Quanzhou). According to legend, Mazu was born in the first year of Song Jianlong (960) and died in the fourth year of Song Yongxi (987). She lived for 28 years. Mazu was originally an ordinary seaside girl in the Song Dynasty in China. However, in the 1000 years after her death, despite the passage of time and ups and downs, her name did not disappear. Instead, she was regarded by the people as the "immortal" and "immortal" (Liang Qichao's couplet about Tianhou Palace) and became a versatile "goddess" who was responsive. About Mazu's life, life experience, native place and other deeds, there is a gradual evolution and development process in local literature records, although it contains many legendary elements. But she is the most influential historical legend in Putian at home and abroad.

Mazu is a descendant of Jiu Mu Lin, a famous family. The earliest historical record is "The Story of Rebuilding Shunji Temple in Shengdun Ancestral Temple" written by Liao Pengfei in Shaoxing in the Southern Song Dynasty, saying that "the goddess has been passed down from generation to generation. Lin, a native of Meizhou Island, can tell fortune ... "In the fifth year of Xuanhe, there was a saying:" In the middle of the project, YUNDI was sent to North Korea and went to the East China Sea. The wind and waves fluctuate, with eight swollen and seven drowned. Take a boat in a private office, a goddess will climb a pole and dance in the rotation, and Russia will get an economic benefit ... "Nantang Qingyuan Army is from Meizhou, Putian County, and Grandpa Mazu is from Putian, living in Fujian and serving as the general manager. Father (only Yin) is a native of Putian and the capital of the early Song Dynasty, doing inspection. Before she was born, her parents burned incense and prayed day and night. The night before the baby girl was born, the neighbors saw the meteor turn from the northwest sky into a red light, dazzling, and the rocks on the island were all red. Therefore, parents think that this baby girl is very strange and more loving. Because she never cried from birth to the next moon, she was named Maureen. Her parents call her Maureen, and people respect her as Maureen Niang. When she grows up, she is determined to do good deeds and help others all her life and never marry. Her parents obeyed her wishes. She is devoted to charity and public welfare. She has been studying medicine, treating people and teaching people to prevent and eliminate disasters. Everyone praised her. She is calm and helpful. Constantly solve problems for villagers and often guide people to seek good fortune and avoid evil. When the world is in trouble, they are also willing to discuss with her and ask her for help [2].

Maureen grew up by the sea, and she is also familiar with astronomy and meteorology, as well as water. There are many reefs in the strait between Meizhou Island and the mainland. Fishing boats and merchant ships wrecked in this sea area are often rescued by Maureen, so people say that she can cross the sea by seat. She also knows good or bad, and will tell the boatman whether to sail in advance, so she said that she can "predict the strange" and call her "goddess" and "dragon lady".

In 1987 (the ninth day of September, 4th year of Yongxi, Song Taizong), it was a day when Maureen, who was only 28 years old, emerged and soared. On this day, people on Meizhou Island expressed that they saw Mazu flying in the sky on a long wind [3]. From then on, sailors said that it was common for Maureen to wear red clothes at sea to help people in distress. Therefore, Mazu gods are gradually and universally enshrined on seagoing ships, praying for safe and smooth navigation.

Mazu spent his life in the sea, helping the poor and saving many fishing boats and merchant ships in the stormy waves; She is determined to save all beings, protect fishermen, do good deeds and save the world. According to historical records, Mazu was praised many times in the Northern Song Dynasty, the Southern Song Dynasty, the Yuan Dynasty, the Ming Dynasty and the Qing Dynasty, with titles ranging from Madame, Tian Fei, Tianhou to Tiannv, and finally included in Taoist sacrifices and national sacrifices [4].
