There are four main sources of Gong surname. One is from Jiang. The Gonggong clan of Yan Di clan was a powerful tribe at that time, and the son of Gonggong was Julong, who was the land manager in the era of the Yellow Emperor, so his descendants added dragons to the Gonggong clan. The second one is from Yan. After Yao and Shun were in charge of criminal law and justice, a republic was established in Huixian County, Henan Province in Shang and Zhou Dynasties, which was destroyed by Wei in the western weekend, and its descendants were named Gong Wei. The third is from Ji's surname. Qi Huangong Jihe took Gongbo He as a fief, which was called Gongbo He in history. After Zhou Liwang was expelled from the royal family, he took charge of state affairs and helped Zhou Xuanwang to take power. Gongbo He's descendants also took Gongbo He as their surname. Gong's early activities were in the Central Plains, but due to its complicated sources, it quickly developed to Shaanxi and Gansu in the west, Jiangsu and Anhui in the east, Sichuan in the southwest, and Hebei, Shanxi, Shandong and other places. Before the Tang Dynasty, Wuling County (now Hunan Province) formed a noble family with a county surname, and Gong's family in Bohai County (now Northeast China) was the most developed, and the ancestral hall was called "Bohai Hall". In Song Dynasty, Gong had formed a dense distribution area in Hebei, Jiangsu, Anhui, Jiangxi, Hunan and Fujian. During the Ming Dynasty, the Gong family mainly concentrated in Jiangsu, Jiangxi, Zhejiang and Fujian. Now it is widely distributed in Shandong, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Hubei, Hunan, Sichuan, Jiangxi and other places.

Gong Sui: An official in the Western Han Dynasty. A native of Nanpingyang County, Shanyang County (now Zoucheng City, Shandong Province). This is the first celebrity named Gong recorded in Historical Records. In the Western Han Dynasty, he was the satrap of Bohai Sea and dared to remonstrate. There was a famine in the county near the Bohai Sea, so he opened a warehouse to borrow food. Later generations regarded him and Ba Huang as representatives of feudal "officials" and called them "Gong Huang".

Gong Zizhen: A famous thinker and writer in Qing Dynasty. Renhe (now Hangzhou, Zhejiang) was born. He is well-read and familiar with the knowledge of Confucian classics, philology, history, geography and so on. He is an important figure of Confucian classics school. During the Daoguang period, he was promoted to a scholar, and the official was the official. When Lin Zexu went to Guangdong to crack down on opium, he foresaw the possible invasion of Britain and suggested strengthening combat readiness. His poetry and prose have made great achievements. His works were compiled into The Complete Works of Gong Zizhen.
