Historical evolution of Jin-Pu Railway
Jin-Pu Railway is an important north-south trunk line in China.

1898 (in the 24th year of Guangxu reign in Qing dynasty) 65438+ 10, Rong Hong, an auxiliary road in Jiangsu province, asked the Prime Minister's yamen to organize the Tianjin-Zhenjiang Railway, but it was shelved because of opposition from Zhang Zhidong and Sheng Xuanhuai. On September 10 of the same year, the British Ambassador to China and the German Ambassador to China wrote to the Prime Minister's yamen respectively, demanding that the Jinzhen Railway be built on the same terms as the Luhan Railway.

1899 (25th year of Guangxu reign in Qing dynasty) June 65438+10/October, the Qing government sent Xu Jingcheng, the prime minister and minister of yamen, to supervise the construction of the Tianjin-Zhenjiang railway. /kloc-In May, 2008, Xu Jingcheng initialled the Jinzhen Railway Loan Contract with the British businessman HSBC and the German businessman Dehua Bank, with a loan of 7.4 million pounds, paid at a 10% discount, with an annual interest rate of 5% and a term of 50 years. The contract stipulates that the northern section shall be undertaken by German businessmen and the southern section by British businessmen. Later, because of the outbreak of the Boxer Rebellion, the contract was put on hold.

1902 (in the 28th year of Guangxu reign of Qing dynasty), the German acting ambassador to China sent a note to the Qing government, requesting to sign a formal contract. The Qing government appointed Yuan Shikai to supervise Jinzhen Railway. Yuan Shikai appointed Tang, Zhang Yi and others to negotiate with representatives of British Sino-British companies and Deutsche Bank. The negotiations between the Qing government and Yingde on Jinzhen Railway Loan were opposed by Beijing officials, local gentry in Zhili, Shandong and Jiangsu, businessmen and students studying in Japan. They think that "Jin-Il Kim Road, which connects Gideon in the north and Jianghuai in the south, is the lifeblood of the three provinces", and its geographical location and strategic significance are very important, so they demand that Jinzhen Railway be recovered and put on hold again.

1907 (thirty-three years of Guangxu) In March, the Qing court sent Zhang Zhidong to handle the Tianjin-Zhenjiang Railway. After several discussions, Zhang and Yuan think that it is not feasible to cancel the contract and do it by themselves. Only by borrowing money is the feasible way.

1908 (thirty-four years of Guangxu in Qing dynasty) 65438+ 10/3, Liang Dunyan, right assistant minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, signed the Tianjin Pukou Railway Loan Contract with Dehua Bank and Huazhong Railway Co., Ltd. (1904, a company formed by the merger of Sino-British Bank and Fufu Company). Its main contents include: changing Tianjin-Zhenjiang Railway to Jinpu Railway, borrowing 5 million pounds, with an annual interest rate of 5%, with a term of 30 years, with a 93% discount of 3 million pounds in the first phase and a 94.5% discount of 2 million pounds in the second phase, with 3.8 million lijin in Zhili, Shandong and Jiangsu provinces as guarantees; China is responsible for the construction and management of the railway, and China chooses one German and one British chief engineer recognized by the company. The two chief engineers must obey the general manager's office or his agent, and the railway is still divided into north and south sections. The construction of the Jin-Pu Railway is divided into two sections: North and South, with two general bureaus. The groundbreaking ceremony was held in August 1908 in Tianjin and Pukou, 10/909.

Total length of Jin-Pu railway 1009 km. The northern section is 626 kilometers from the intersection of two roads south of Tianjin main station of Jingfeng Railway to Han Zhuang, Shandong Province.
