In the Song Dynasty, Buddhism flourished. In the glorious period, there were more than 500 monks and buddhist nun, and there were more than 700 temples and monasteries with a total construction area of more than 300 mu, which was the best among Zen temples at that time. Later, with the changes of the times, Longhua Temple gradually declined. It was not until the reconstruction of Longhua Temple in 2002 that the Millennium Temple was able to reproduce the Buddha's light.
Now there is a legend that a dragon in the sky was killed by a traitor for defending justice a long time ago. Being unaccustomed to life on earth, the dragon soon died. People come here to pay homage to it and call this place "Longhua corpse".
During the local drought in the Song Dynasty, people dug wells to get water where the dragon's body was buried. When the well was dug to a depth of more than ten feet, there was a loud bang, and the spring water in the well rolled out, irrigating thousands of acres of land and saving people from the hot water. After that, I raised money to build a temple here, and since then, the weather has been good. Even if it is dry, I will come to the temple to pray for rain, and it will definitely rain.
Another legend is that in the Tang Dynasty, Zen master Fa Ru gave a lecture here, and King Ni Qinglong next to him came here to listen in human form. When Fallow saw the humanoid dragon king, it didn't mean much.
This year happened to be a drought in Xuchang area, and it was useless for local people to pray for rain. One day, the Dragon King continued to come here to listen to the scriptures as usual. People want the Zen master to use his magic to rain, but Faru said that this is beyond my intervention. There is always a causal cycle. Believers are disappointed, and the Dragon King is also confused.
The Dragon King also wanted to help the local residents, but because there was no rain decree, he dared not rain clouds and clouds himself. He thought of what the law said during the day and suddenly realized. He gave the people a dream, let them dig a well in Wazhuang and there will be springs, let them build temples and statues to worship the Buddha and the Dragon King, and ensure good weather.
The next day, the villagers found water in that place and the local drought was solved. Believers from all directions donated money to build a temple here, named "Longhua Temple".
An ancient pagoda tree outside the gate of Hualong Temple also has an unusual legend, although the trunk is now hollow and there are traces of being struck by lightning. It is said that this pagoda tree is the oldest pagoda tree in Xuchang area, with a history of 1000 years. Once a fire burned it beyond recognition, but then a Broussonetia papyrifera miraculously grew out of the fire, forming a wonder of trees among trees.
A long time ago, the old Sophora japonica was unwilling to be lonely. She became a teacher and went to a small village in Shanxi as an apprentice. He taught so well that all scholars in Fiona Fang Baili came to worship him as their teacher. The students he has trained will either be admitted to the Jinshi or be awarded a prize in the examination.
However, he never told anyone where he lived. A few years later, before the old man died, he just told his classmates around him that if you miss me in the future, go to Wazhuang in Xuchang City. Later, these people came to Wazhuang and found no old gentleman. When they rested under the old pagoda tree and chatted with the local people, they realized that the old tree had been dead for several years and had been resurrected.
The time calculated several times before and after coincides with my teacher's time in Shanxi. At this time, they realized that the tree was their teacher. Gradually, the story spread slowly, and all the literati who want to win fame will come here to pay homage to the old locust tree.
