Kang has a large population in China, accounting for about 0.23% of the Han population in China. In the history of China, Kang is a famous figure in all dynasties. There are 36 biographies of Kang in Twenty-four History, and 62 celebrities of Kang before the Republic of China are included in China Celebrity Dictionary.
Kang surname has four sources:
1, from Ji's surname.
He is a descendant of Kang Shu and takes his ancestor posthumous title (or city name) as his surname. According to the Genealogy, his younger brother Kang Shu and posthumous title "Kang", and later generations took his posthumous title as their surname.
2. Descendants of Kangju King in the Western Regions in the Han Dynasty.
Take the country name as the surname. According to the Biography of Liang Shu Kang Xuan, during the Han Dynasty, the comfortable countries in the western regions sent their princes to China to express their obedience. In the Han Dynasty, Duhu Prefecture was set up in the Western Regions. After the Prince arrived in China, he settled in Hexi for a letter. Later, Prince Kangju settled in Hexi (Hexi Corridor, Huangshui River Basin), and later generations took the country as their surname and became Kangxing, Gansu. In the Sui and Tang Dynasties, this Central Asian country still existed and was called Guo Kang.
3. From Kuang.
In order to avoid the anonymity of the founding emperor of the Song Dynasty, Kuang was renamed Kang. According to the History of Song Dynasty, after the founding emperor of Song Dynasty ascended the throne, in order to avoid anonymity, he changed his surname "Kuang" to "Kang", with similar pronunciation.
4. From other ethnic minorities.
(1) According to Sui Shu, "Turks also have Kang". Turkic is a nomadic people in Xinjiang in the 6th century. The regime was established in the Western Wei Dynasty. Before the Sui Dynasty, the territory was the widest, and there was a surname of Kang among the nationalities. For example, An Lushan, whose real name was Kang, launched the Anshi Rebellion in the Tang Dynasty.
(2) Nuzhen Nala in the Jin Dynasty, Herse Rihara in the Manchu in the Qing Dynasty, Variti in the Daur nationality, and Kang in the Han nationality.
(3) Today, Yao, Mongolian, Tu, Qiang and other ethnic groups all have the surname of Kang.
