The Historical Evolution of Hanshan Temple

Hanshanzi, a famous monk, lived here in the early years of Zhenguan of Emperor Taizong (627-649), and the famous Zen master Qian (700-790) founded Hanshan Temple here in Xuanzong of Tang Dynasty.

During the Northern Song Dynasty (976-983), in the early days of Taizong Taiping and Xingguo, Sun Chengyou rebuilt 70% of the stupas. In the second year of Renzong in the Northern Song Dynasty (1057), Huan Gong Wang Jue wrote Zhang Jishi, and Yifeng Bridge called Qiao Feng. During the reign of Emperor Gaozong in the Southern Song Dynasty (1131-162), it was called Qiao Feng Temple. During the reign of Hongwu (1368- 1398), monks often visited the secluded building. Hanshan Temple merged into three temples: Xiufeng Temple, Huiqing Temple and Nanfeng Temple; Ansi: Manjusri, Gaoyun and Shedu are short of one. It can be seen that Hanshan Temple was still a jungle in the early Ming Dynasty.

Buddha statues, utensils and temples were damaged, and cultural relics in the temple were confiscated.
