Philip
Philip is a Greek name, so he should have a Jewish name, but it is not mentioned in the Bible. This name, like Philip preaching the gospel to eunuchs in the wilderness, is actually two people. It is wise to translate the Chinese Bible into different languages to avoid confusion. Philip did not see his name after Pentecost. It is reported that he became enthusiastic after he ascended to heaven and soon became a martyr. The original meaning of his name is warrior of truth. He is really a good soldier of Christ. We look at him from three angles: (about 1: 43 ~ 46)
Philip was a great Bethany. He lived in the same city as Andrew and Peter. One day, Jesus wanted to go to Galilee. On the way, he met Philip and said to him, Come and follow me! With such a simple call, Philip followed the Lord and became his disciple. In that unbelieving era, the Lord once compared it to a numb society where "I play the flute for you, but you don't dance, mourn for you, and you don't beat your chest". Why did Philip accept the call of the Lord so quickly? From his later testimony to Nathanael, we can know that he is a man who always pays attention to the prophet's prophecy. He knows the truth very well. As soon as he saw the Lord Jesus, he knew that he was the Messiah. The short words of the Lord attracted him to become a disciple, and he immediately became hot and went to see his friend Nathanael.
Philip found Nathanael and said to him, We have found what Moses wrote in the law and what the prophets wrote, that is, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Yue Se. Philip was not a disciple of John the Baptist and had no formal theological training. At that time, the Lord Jesus had not started to perform miracles, nor did he say anything to Philip; But a person who knows the truth, standing in front of the truth, can recognize it immediately. Philip made it clear, just as the Lord told his two disciples on the way to Emmaus later: He explained to them everything that Moses and the prophets pointed at him (Luke 24: 27). Today, there are still many people who think that the Old Testament is only Jewish history plus some myths and legends, and has nothing to do with modern people. This kind of person can be said to have no complete understanding of the truth and no deep understanding. Just like Nathanael, he immediately said: What good can Nazareth do? Nazareth is a small town nearby. How can it be related to the ancient great prophet? Philip didn't argue, only said three words to him: come and see.
This is another manifestation of Philip's profound understanding of the truth. We don't have to argue with empty words, beating around the bush outside the truth will only hurt our feelings; Know the truth yourself, stand in front of the truth, and you will be completely clear. When Nathanael saw it, he believed it, and he was often listed on the list of disciples with Philip and became a colleague of Philip. We should also lead people to the Lord, directly to the Lord, and the Lord's words will naturally touch him and save him. (about 6: 4 ~ 7)
Philip certainly knows the truth, but he needs to practice his beliefs. Philip seems to have no courage. Once, several Greeks asked him to take them to Jesus, but he was afraid to take them directly. Instead, he told Andrew that Andrew accompanied him to tell Jesus (about 12: 20 ~ 22). Of course, the Lord Jesus knew the weakness of every disciple, so before the miracle of changing bread appeared, he singled out Philip and said to him, where can we buy bread for these people? It is specifically mentioned in the Bible that he said this to test Philip, and he himself knew what to do. It is a pity that Philip didn't pass the exam. He replied that it was not enough for each of them to eat a bun of 220 silver.
It can be seen that a person's understanding of truth is not enough, and he needs to increase his confidence in practice in life practice. We often make this mistake, knowing that the Bible says so, but when we encounter difficulties in life, we forget the promise in the Bible and only use our own brains to plan. Philip should answer Lord, Lord! You can turn water into wine, and of course you can turn stones into cakes. If you have any orders, please let me know! We will do it. This is an exercise from experience. He can also say: Lord! As long as you say a word, we will all be full. You are the son of the living God, and nothing can beat you. If he can apply the historical facts in the books of Moses and prophets, he should say: Lord! Do you think it's good to ask God to come down from the sky? Or order the crow to bring cake?
It's a pity that when Philip heard that he was going to buy cakes for so many people, he started his own abacus. How much is a cake? How many cakes can I buy for a penny or two? This figure is really big, and 22 pieces of silver cakes are not enough for one person to bite! I forgot to look up at the Lord when I bowed my head and calculated my abacus, and even misheard the question. The Lord asked not about money, but where to buy it. Is the source of food, not purchasing power. Poor man with weak confidence! It's hard to look at people, the environment and yourself. If we look to the Lord and pray to him, there will be no more difficulties. God's grace should be given to us completely so that we can enjoy it endlessly. (about 14: 6 ~ 1 1)
Philip knew from the beginning that the Lord Jesus was the Messiah, but unfortunately, he walked with the Lord for three years and seemed to have made no progress, so that at the last supper, he made a stupid request. At that time, the Lord said, I am the way, the truth and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me. But also clearly added: If you know me, you also know my father. From now on, you know him and have seen him. Making things so clear, Philip foolishly asked, Let the Lord show us the Father, and we will be satisfied. The Lord had to blame him: Philip, I've been with you for so long, don't you know me? When people see me, they see my father. How can you say that you will show us the Holy Father?
Philip must have been satisfied when he met the Messiah, and he didn't pursue further to know him better. Spiritual things are like sailing against the current. If you don't advance, you will retreat. Accustomed to staying in the original position, even the people I knew at the beginning were very confused. Always be a suckling baby at the beginning of truth, why not ask the Lord to sigh? Now his prayers have become stupid, just like those Greeks who only seek miracles and do not seek salvation. His purpose is only to satisfy himself, not by God's will. He is really a weak believer. He seeks happiness and longevity for himself, peace and success for future generations, and never seeks how to live a life that conforms to God's will and pleases the Lord.

Philip (Greek: φ ι λ ι π π o? ; ? ~ 326 BC) was the general of Alexander the Great. When Alexander conquered India in 327 years ago, he was appointed as one of the governors of India, ruling the Hidaspis River (now Jie Hellem River). Later, after Alexander conquered Molapo and Osidrakay, these areas were also handed over to Philip. As Alexander continued to conquer India to the south, this area was finally handed over to Philip, as far as the confluence of the Indus River and the Chinab River. When Alexander arrived at the confluence of the Indus and Chinab rivers, he ordered Philip to build Alexandra-Sur-India here. Johann Gustav Droysen, a modern historian, thinks that Philip is the father of Antioch I, and at least it is certain that they are aristocrats from Hermiotis in Upper Macedonia.
Alexander left India and was on his way back to Babylon. Philip was murdered by his mercenaries 326 years ago. Alexander immediately wrote to Taksi and Eudemus, asking them to temporarily take over Philip's jurisdiction.
Philip (Greek: φ ι λ ι π π o? ; ? ~ 3 18 BC), appointed by Alexander the Great as the governor of the Sogdians in the first 327 years, has been in this position, ruling the farthest one of all provinces. After Alexander's death, the heirs redistributed the imperial power. In the previous 32 1 year, Philip was replaced by the governor of Parthia in the enfeoffment agreement of Trippaladisus. In 3 18, Peisong, the governor of neighboring Medea, attempted to expand his power in the eastern part of the empire, attacked neighboring Parthia, killed Philip, and appointed his brother Eudemus as the new governor of Parthia.
Philip (Greek: φ ι λ ι π π o? , the fourth century BC), is the son of Macedonian Regent Antipat and Cassandra's brother.
323 years ago, according to Justine's records, Philip and his two brothers Cassander and Horace were suspected of poisoning Alexander the Great. Later, in 3 13 BC, Cassander sent his troops to invade Ethiopia, but when Philip marched into Acania, it was reported that King Acatis of Epirus had regained the throne, and Philip turned back to attack Acatis and defeated his opponent in the fierce battle. Aecads led the remaining troops to meet the Ethiopians, and then Philip defeated the combined army of Epirus and Ethiopians in another battle. Aced was killed in this battle, and the Ethiopians gave up the easily occupied areas and retreated to the fortress in the mountains.
Philip (Greek: φ ι λ ι π π o? , ? ~ 306 BC), the son of Antioch I, the king of Antioch, and Stratonice I, the queen of Antioch, his father sent him to lead an army to fight against the rebel Phoenix in 3 10 and recover the towns around the Daniil Strait. He died 306 years ago, just as his father was preparing to explore Ptolemy Egypt.
