Wen Sheng Temple in Jiaxing is a national key cultural relic protection unit.

Wen Sheng Temple is located at No.53 Guangming Street, Hangming Community, Jiefang Street, Nanhu District, Jiaxing City. It is also known as the embassy monastery, adjacent to the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal in the west. This is an institution that specializes in training embassy clergy. In the 28th year of Guangxu reign in Qing Dynasty (1902), the land purchased by French priest Bou Shi Jia at the north gate of Jiaxing began to be built, and it was completed the following year. After the completion of the temple, there will be 40 or 50 Chinese and foreign monks living in the temple to study teachings and train missionaries. From 1903 to 1908, Wen Sheng Temple was the only monastery of Catholic missions in China, also known as the general monastery. The monastery was closed on 1949. Long-term owned by Jiahang Company, 1994 returned to the Catholic Church. Wen Sheng Temple covers an area of 47.5 mu, of which the building area is 5677 square meters, which is a western-style building. Sitting east to west, brick and wood structure, except for the three floors of the west wing, the rest are two floors. When the temple was built, Cinnamomum camphora was planted in the courtyard, which was over 100 years old. As a historical witness of the spread of Catholicism in China, Wen Sheng Temple has important historical value, and its typical western-style architectural features also have high architectural aesthetic value. In 20 13, it merged with Jiaxing Catholic Church and was announced as a national key cultural relics protection unit.
