Textual research on Teng's origin
Teng surname has three sources:

1, originated from the twenty-fifth son Teng of the Yellow Emperor. In ancient times, the word "Teng" was "ridge", meaning ridge. Because "Teng" and "Xi" are homonyms, the ancients used "Xi" as "Teng", which means that the spring tide is surging and the water is full of the earth. This Teng family is one of the twelve initial surnames of the descendants of the Yellow Emperor, and it is the earliest Teng family. It is inseparable from the Luo family and is based in the Gutengzhou area.

2. Originated from the surname Ji, it comes from Tengguo, a land embroidered by Uncle Shizi Cuo, and belongs to the country name. Rutten (now tengxian, Shandong Province), the 14th son of King Jichang of Zhou Wen, established Tengguo, and Cuoshu Embroidered became the first monarch of Tengguo. The last monarch of Tengguo was called Teng Bo and Moon Hee. After the death of Teng Guo, his royal descendants fled in succession. In order not to forget the national humiliation, always cherish the homeland, take the country as the surname, and change the surname Teng.

3. It originated from his family's surname change, and came from the Luo family of Xiyan Murong Department in the Sixteen Kingdoms period. In the wave of sinicization reform promoted by Dostoevsky, the descendant of Emperor Xiaowen of the Northern Wei Dynasty, some Chinese characters with homophonic names of ancestors were called Teng's and Teng's, and gradually sinicized.
