Professor Huang Kan, who studied under Mr. Zhang, made outstanding achievements in the fields of writing, phonology and exegetics, and was known as one of the "three masters of Chinese studies" in the late Qing Dynasty. The "Zhang Huang School" founded by him and the Zhang family is well-known at home and abroad, which has had a far-reaching impact on the academic research atmosphere of the Chinese Department of Wuhan University.

The construction of doctoral programs is also remarkable: 198 1 year, the discipline of ancient Chinese with Mr. Huang Zhuo as the academic leader was approved to establish a doctoral program in the history of China, becoming one of the earliest doctoral programs in China. The discipline of modern and contemporary literature in China has developed rapidly under the leadership of Mr. Lv Yaodong, and was approved as a doctoral program in 1990. The discipline teachers are strong and have great influence in academic circles at home and abroad. The discipline of ancient literature in China actively introduced young and middle-aged scholars, which greatly enriched the discipline strength. It was approved as a doctoral program in 2000, showing a vigorous and gratifying development trend. In 200 1 year, with the approval of the Ministry of Personnel and the National Postdoctoral Management Committee, the Chinese Department officially set up a postdoctoral mobile station, and the discipline construction reached a new level.
