What is the history of craft?
Archaeological data prove that practical craft is one of the oldest art types in human history. As early as the primitive society, human ancestors began to decorate themselves with animal skins, bones, ivory and feathers. Especially in the Neolithic Age, a large number of painted pottery appeared, which was a perfect combination of practicality and artistry. Some unearthed painted pottery still has high aesthetic value. These pottery wares have a wide variety and different shapes, and they have reached a high level in material selection, modeling technology and artistic processing. For example, the earliest and largest "King of Painted Pottery" found in China is a pottery with Hongshan Culture characteristics unearthed in western Liaoning in the early 1980s. It is a painted pottery with a tire thickness of 1.3 cm. Judging from the radian and tire thickness of the pottery, it is a hollow painted pottery with a large mouth, and the abdominal diameter after recovery is more than one meter. It was a special ancestor worship instrument at that time, with a history of 5000 years. In addition, an animal-shaped object unearthed in Dawenkou, the whole painted pottery looks like an animal, with its head held high, ears pricked up and barking. The animal's mouth is the bottle mouth for pouring water, and its back is the handle of pottery. The design is exquisite and unique, practical and beautiful. Another example is the sharp-bottomed bottle unearthed in Majiayao, with continuous spirals painted in four directions, giving people a sense of rhythm. Sharp-bottomed bottles are not only beautiful, but also practical. It's too heavy, and it's easy to tilt and fetch water. It can be seen that the ancestors of primitive society have unified practicality and aesthetics into the manufacture of practical handicrafts.
