1940, Liuzhou had the first real river-crossing bridge-railway bridge, which made Liuzhou bid farewell to the history of crossing the river by ferry and pontoon. Together with Guizhou-Guangxi Railway, Liujiang Railway Bridge has made Liuzhou an important transportation hub city in the southwest of China.

Liujiang Bridge, the first urban road bridge across Liujiang River in Liuzhou City, was the first long-span prestressed reinforced concrete T-shaped cantilever suspension beam system bridge designed and constructed by China in 1968, and was completed and opened to traffic in 1968. Liujiang Bridge has stood on Liujiang River for 39 years and made great contributions to Liuzhou's economic construction.
