History of bamboo drum music
As a musical instrument, bamboo drum began in Zhou Dynasty. There were eight tones in the Zhou Dynasty, and the bamboo drum was the first of the group tones. The cultural connotation of bamboo drums is profound, the majestic drums are closely accompanied by human beings, and the ancient wasteland is gradually moving towards civilization. Customs can be folk celebration gongs and drums, and elegance can enter temple fairs and court banquets. Drum is one of the most popular and widely used musical instruments, from primitive pottery drums, earth drums, leather drums and bronze drums to a wide variety of modern drums. Some people think that the earliest drums should be used by ancient ancestors, and daily necessities such as pots and pans evolved from this. The unearthed pottery drums prove that pottery drums were made as early as 7000 years ago in the Neolithic Age. Pottery drums, also called earthen drums, are made of clay and then wrapped in animal leather. In China, the tradition of making pottery drums with tiles as the frame has a long history. Waist drum was introduced to China from the Western Regions and was widely popular in the Tang Dynasty. In addition to wooden materials, the waist drum in Tang Dynasty also used ceramics as drum materials.

The earliest bamboo drum was a bamboo sounding instrument made of Dalong bamboo tube, and was later wrapped in pig bladder, frog skin or snake skin. Dehong Dai people call bamboo tubes pig urine bubble tubes. Bulang people in Lancang call bamboo drums earth drums or earth drums, and their use is closely related to customs and activities. In the past, it didn't rain for a long time. According to national traditions and customs, the whole village held religious activities to pray for rain. Most of them dug a round pit with a depth of 30 cm under the Daqing tree on the hillside outside the village, put bamboo tubes in the pit, put a table in front of the pit, put chicken, wine, glutinous rice and other food, and a respected old man knocked with a small stick while reading prayers in front of the pit. In the late 1970s, after the musicians in Cangyuan Wa Autonomous County were transformed and developed, drums and drums extended from the lower end of the drum cavity, enabling them to perform live performances.
