Leim County is the easternmost county in Changji Hui Autonomous Prefecture. Located at the northern foot of Tianshan Mountain, the southeast edge of Junggar Basin, east of Qitai County and west of Barkun County, facing Shanshan County across the mountain in the south and bordering the People's Republic of Mongolia in the north. Its geographical coordinates are 89 51'to 9219' east longitude and 43 34' to 45 65438+north latitude. The county has a total area of 17700 square kilometers and a total population of 86344 (2003). There are Han, Kazak, Uygur, Uzbek, Hui and other 13 ethnic groups.
