1956, Taiyuan Architectural Engineering School of the Ministry of Metallurgical Industry was established;

1999, enrolling higher vocational students in the name of "Vocational and Technical College of Taiyuan University of Technology";
In 2000, due to the reform of government institutions, Shanxi Metallurgical Industry Department was abolished, and the school was affiliated to Shanxi Education Department.
In April of 200 1 year, with the approval of Shanxi provincial people's government, the school was upgraded to "Shanxi Engineering Vocational and Technical College";
