Phantom limb pain after amputation
According to clinical reports, more than 50% amputees have phantom limb pain after operation. The pain is persistent, especially at night. However, there is no effective means to relieve phantom limb pain. In recent years, basic medical and clinical research has shown that phantom limb pain is closely related to "cortical reorganization", which provides a new idea for clinical relief of phantom limb pain. As medical workers, we should guide patients to face up to the stump and accept the reality of amputation. Psychotherapy such as relaxation therapy was used to gradually eliminate the phantom limb feeling. For patients with long duration, phantom limb pain can be eliminated by tapping the stump, or by physical therapy, blocking and nerve block.
