Liangshan Prefecture is the largest inhabited area of Yi people in China, and Xide County is the birthplace of Yi lacquerware. Liangshan National Craft Company is a national craft enterprise founded by folk artists on the basis of state investment in 1982, which initiated the industrial production of Yi lacquerware. After more than ten years' development, its Yi lacquerware is well-known at home and abroad, and it has become a leader in the same industry.
