The ancient road of Huihang ancient road
In ancient times, the ancient road that can be named Huizhou and Hangzhou refers to the official and commercial passage from Shexian County, where the ancient Huizhou government is located, to Hangzhou. Jixi, now known as the "Huizhou-Hangzhou Ancient Road", is just a branch road, which is equivalent to county and township roads. It is a national/provincial highway that starts from Shexian county, Huizhou prefecture, passes through Qizili, Wang Maoyin's hometown, Zhu Ling, and finally passes through Yulingguan at the junction of Shexian county and Hangzhou.

It is said that the Huizhou-Hangzhou ancient road in Shexian County is an official road because it left a strong official seal. Hui-Hang Ancient Road from Shexian to Hangzhou passes through Laozhupu, Lengshuipu, Wu Shan Store, Wanggansi Store and Zhengkeng Store. These names can be traced back to the Song Dynasty, and they are the names of "shops, shops and companies" in past dynasties. They are official post stations or similar institutions for past officials, messengers and pedestrians to rest, stop and change horses, as well as for military purposes and mailing items. The function of the post station was lost and cancelled in the late Qing Dynasty, but it was habitually preserved as a place name.

This "Huizhou-Hangzhou Ancient Road" in Jixi County used to be a mountain road from Xiaoyaoyan in the northeast township of Jixi County to Ma Xiao in Changhua. It is described as "Xiaoyaoyan Road" in 1998 edition of Jixi County Records, which belongs to "township road". After entering Zhejiang, it is connected with Hangzhou through Guhuihang Road.

In fact, the authoritative historical records of some post stations in the Ming Dynasty, such as Huang Bian's "Land in the South of the Yangtze River" and Cheng Chunyu's "A Brief Introduction to Confucian Merchants", simply can't find this township road in Jixi, but this ancient road in Shexian often appears in some historical documents.

However, it must be admitted that this "rural road" relic in Jixi County is still relatively complete, which was developed in advance several years ago, and the awareness of humanistic tourism development is strong enough. Therefore, this township road was known to the outside world in the name of "Huizhou-Hangzhou Ancient Road" earlier, and was widely publicized on the Internet, and was also declared as a "national cultural relics protection unit".
