Why didn't Mongolia, which attacked Lin 'an City, carry out cruel slaughter?
Zhejiang, located along the coast, has a long history and has gradually become a fertile ground since its development. In the third year of Jian Yan in the Southern Song Dynasty (1 129), the court in the Southern Song Dynasty named his hometown "Lin 'an" as the official name and upgraded Hangzhou to "Lin 'an House" to commemorate the return of Wu Yue's native land to the Song Dynasty.

Everything will change, especially the dynasty. So, what was the scene when Lin 'an was attacked by Mongolia?

For a city that has just been breached, our impression of it is always lifeless and depressed, but when Lin 'an was breached, it was not what we imagined. In the 11th year of the Yuan Dynasty (1274), after the Yuan army captured Jiankang, Zhenjiang and other important towns, Kublai Khan of Yuan Shizu appointed the right prime minister Bo Yan to lead the main force of the Yuan army to Lin 'an.

Before Mongolia captured Lin 'an, Changzhou, a military town in the Southern Song Dynasty, was breached within a month, and all the valiant soldiers stationed in Changzhou became ghosts of the Yuan Army. The Yuan army's method of killing the city was extremely cruel. It not only mixed human bodies with mud to build a fortress, but also threw them into an iron pot to boil human oil, poured them into a clay pot, and then threw them at the defenders to burn.

The Empress Dowager knows that if Lin 'an garrison fought to the death, the consequences would be as tragic as Changzhou, and the people in the Southern Song Dynasty would be homeless and displaced.

So she made a shocking decision under the condition that Wen Tianxiang urged her to defend the city: Kaesong. The only condition is that the Yuan Army doesn't kill Lin 'an people!

What Empress Dowager Cixi did was by no means the cowardice of the royal family in the Southern Song Dynasty, but for the safety of the people in Lin 'an and to avoid the situation of untold suffering. After hearing the news of surrender, the Southern Song army stationed outside Lin 'an was afraid of its own life, so it launched a riot. In this riot, it was divided into two factions. Some soldiers in the Southern Song Dynasty left Hangzhou with their young Zhao Min brothers, plotting to make a comeback, while others plundered people's property in Lin 'an, and the people were miserable.

When the Mongolian army came to Lin 'an, their strict military discipline and neat team were in sharp contrast with the chaotic soldiers of the Southern Song Dynasty. As expected, the Mongolian army successfully captured Lin 'an and controlled the chaos in Lin 'an in time. The Mongols listened to the advice of the Han officials in the Mongolian army and adopted a series of policies to maintain stability, such as restoring most of the old ministers in the Southern Song Dynasty to their original posts, not letting the people change their crowns and clothes, and still letting the people use old coins.

Under the "inaction" rule of the Mongols, Lin 'an quickly recovered its former prosperity, even further than in the Southern Song Dynasty.

In the Southern Song Dynasty, Wang Yuanliang wrote a poem praising:

"If you don't change clothes, you will be covered in dust. People from the north and the south made deals, but the capital still made copper coins. General Lu, the Prime Minister won't kill anyone in Jiangnan. " Yesterday, the emperor invited me to tea for dinner, and all the courtiers paid tribute to Zhu Xi.

It also reflects the correctness of Mongolia's policy of tolerance rather than murder after the break of Lin 'an.

Facts have proved that Mongolia's approach is wise.

If the Mongols, like the Jin people, wantonly kill after taking Lin 'an, it will inevitably lead to the counterattack of the remaining soldiers and civilians in the Southern Song Dynasty, which will not only lose the hearts of the people, but also greatly weaken their own strength, which can be said to be "not worth the loss."

With the invasion, Jin Guo's actions were full of barbarism, which made him unpopular, and the people complained bitterly.

The so-called "monarch, boat also; People, water also. Water can carry a boat or overturn it. " If the monarch is a ship, then the people are water. The knife cuts bread and fingers. Benevolence can win the hearts of the people, and those who win the hearts of the people win the world.

The glory of history always needs to be described by rulers and people. The Queen Mother is considered to have lost her integrity, but she loves the people to a greater extent.
