Why did Henan become a big grain province?
Historical location, geographical environment and population structure determine that Henan has become a major grain province.

A few days ago, there was news. I don't know if you read it. It said that "Henan steamed bread accounts for a quarter of the country", which was very awesome and immediately attracted everyone's attention. According to official data, half of ham sausage, one third of instant noodles, one quarter of steamed bread, three fifths of glutinous rice balls and seven tenths of jiaozi on the market are produced in Henan. Just ask everyone, is it amazing? It is a big grain province. Henan exports more than 60 billion Jin of raw grain and processed products to the whole country every year. Let's just say that every family in China can have Henan agricultural products on the kitchen and dining table.

Speaking of Henan, many people should know that it is a big agricultural province, and we will also think of a regional vocabulary called Central Plains. Yes, Henan is located in the Central Plains, and has been known as the "granary of the Central Plains" since ancient times.

Do you know what the Central Plains means? It means "Yuan Ye of the world", the birthplace of Chinese civilization and the cradle of Chinese nation. From the Xia Dynasty to the Northern Song Dynasty, it was basically the capital of Henan, and the capital of more than 20 dynasties was in Henan, which shows its historical position. Due to the great integration of the Chinese nation and the expansion of the Central Plains civilization, the Central Plains region has expanded outward from Manchuria, and the exchanges between the Han nationality and the ethnic groups with the Central Plains culture as the core have become more frequent.

The Central Plains, also known as China, China and Zhongzhou, refers to the middle and lower reaches of the Yellow River with Heluo as the center. But compared with foreign countries, this refers to China in a broad sense, and actually refers to Henan in a narrow sense.

There is a saying that everyone must have heard of, that is, "He who wins the Central Plains wins the world". This sentence not only refers to the important position of Henan, but also refers to its flat terrain, large arable land, large population to support, large labor force and good land, so the grain output is naturally large.

Speaking of historical factors, the geographical environment can not be ignored. In fact, Henan is not big, with a total area of167,000 square kilometers, high in the west and low in the east. Taihang Mountain, Funiu Mountain, Tongbai Mountain and Dabie Mountain are distributed in a semicircle along the provincial boundary, with Huang-Huai-Hai alluvial plain in the middle and east (namely North China Plain) in the north, west and south, and Nanyang Basin in the southwest. Plain basins and mountainous hills account for 55.7% and 44.3% of the total area respectively. The vast plains and mountainous terrain are very beneficial to the development of agriculture and animal husbandry in Henan.

Topographic map of Henan province

In the land inventory of 202 1, Henan actually owns 654.38+22.29 million mu of cultivated land, ranking third in the country, exceeding the national target of194.48 million mu, and delineating permanent basic farmland 10235438+0000 mu, laying a very solid foundation for Henan's status as a major grain province!

Distribution of Climate Types in China

The climate in Henan is also very suitable for agricultural production, which basically belongs to warm temperate zone, southern subtropical climate, continental monsoon climate, four distinct seasons, simultaneous rain and heat, and so on. It is simply a paradise for crop growth, so you can find that the grain in Henan is mainly wheat and corn in the north and rice in the south.

It also has natural advantages in water resources. As mentioned earlier, Henan is located in the middle and lower reaches of the Yellow River and the upper reaches of the Huaihe River. Besides the Yellow River and Huaihe River, there are many water systems in Henan, such as Weihe River, Guo Ye River, Heying River, Ruhe River, Baihe River and Luohe River, which are extremely rich in water resources and convenient for irrigation of grain.

Finally, the population structure, mainly the agricultural population accounts for a relatively large proportion. This must be clear to everyone. Why so many people, in fact, is because Henan is the earliest place for agricultural development, and the registered population has already exceeded 100 million.

At the end of 20021,the resident population of the province was 98.83 million, and the agricultural population exceeded 60%. Such a sufficient labor force can fully guarantee the refined operation of grain planting. Therefore, it seems natural that the average grain yield per mu in Henan far exceeds the national average!

Let me talk about my personal thoughts. As we all know, food and agriculture are inseparable. What is the core of agriculture? Farmers and rural areas, of course. If we want to do a good job in agriculture, we must first ensure the living standards of farmers, so that the countryside will have prospects. We hope that the relevant departments will pay more attention to farmers, give them more benefits and reduce middlemen, so that both farmers and consumers can benefit.

Only when farmers pay the sweetness can they engage in agriculture with peace of mind and stability, which is also the guarantee of food and agricultural security in China.

In fact, Henan has also paid a lot of costs in its economic development. The Central Plains is on the rise. I hope that the per capita data of Henan can be greatly improved, such as per capita GDP and per capita disposable income.

Come on in Henan!
