Xuanzhong Temple and the Emperor of Shibi Mountain
During the 1500 years after the completion of Xuanzhong Temple, two emperors appeared in the history of China, one was Emperor Taizong Li Shimin, and the other was Hong Yan (Jing Wong). Emperor Taizong came to Xuanzhong Temple in the eighth year of Zhenguan in Tang Dynasty (AD 635). He came to Xuanzhong Temple to pray for his mother, Empress Wende. Later, Xuanzhong Temple became the royal official temple. At this stage, the temple has undergone a large-scale expansion project. In the ninth year of Zhenyuan in Tang Dezong (AD 793), Xuanzhong Temple invested heavily to build a Buddhist altar. In the eighth year of Tang Yuanhe (AD 8 13), Li Wei, who had been a servant of the Crown Prince, wrote "The Ganlu inscription of the Stone Temple in Tang Dynasty" for Xuanzhong Temple. At this time, Xuanzhong Temple Huantan has become one of the three largest Huantan in China at that time. The other two altars are Lingshan Altar in Chang 'an, Shangdu, and Huishan Altar in Dengfeng of Huishan Temple in Luoyang, Dongdu. The manna altar in Xuanzhong Temple is an altar in the northern capital and the state. At this time, Xuanzhong Temple is in its heyday. As for Jin Zhangzong Hong Yan (Jing Wong), he came to Xuanzhong Temple in the golden autumn of the seventh year of Jin Taihe (AD 1207). In his related poems, he once compared Xuanzhong Temple to "the golden world in his pocket and the blue lotus in the Vatican Palace".
