What kinds of inscriptions are there?
There are many kinds of inscriptions with different styles. To sum up, it can be divided into six categories: there are many kinds of inscriptions, and the genre characteristics of inscriptions are not the same. Generally speaking, there are the following inscriptions.

(a) Monument to Merit

1. The content requires that the establishment of the merit monument is mainly to praise the merits of the people who were still alive at that time, that is to say, to praise the living people. For example, in Li Bai's Preface to Killing Han Jun in Wuchang, Qin Lisi once carved a stone to praise Qin Shihuang's civil and military work.

2. Stylistic requirements: The genre of the inscription on the Gongde tablet can be verse, a combination of rhythm and prose, and a lively and novel pure prose form.

3. Precautions The meritorious monument is for publicity. If the sentence is too abstruse, it will lose its significance, so popular language is the principle that inscriptions must abide by. In addition, the ancients took virtue, meritorious service and making statements as the direction of their efforts, and so do today. Therefore, it is appropriate to set up a monument to merit, praise virtue, and not exaggerate or narrow the facts to make people laugh.

(2) Temple Monument

There are many kinds of temple monuments, such as temple monuments, temple monuments, ancestral temples, family temples, etc., which are all built for gods and ghosts. There are many ancient temples in China, so temple monuments can be seen everywhere. The general format of the temple monument includes the title, the author of the inscription, the calligrapher, the seal manufacturer, the stone manufacturer and the date of the monument. Architectural temples, family temples and ancestral temples have almost become historical relics, so there are not many introductions about temples and historic sites here.

(3) Tombstones

Tombstones are the most common inscriptions. This kind of inscription is a praise to the dead and people, and does not involve strange things that become gods and spirits.

There are two main types of tombstone inscriptions. One only indicates the identity of the deceased in the tomb, and most of them are done by relatives of the deceased; Another tombstone not only shows the identity of the deceased, but also briefly introduces the achievements and contributions of the deceased in life. This kind of tombstone is also called epitaph, such as Han Yu's Epitaph of Liu Zihou and Zhang Pu's Five Tombs.

(4) Monument

Monuments are mainly to commemorate great figures or major historical events that have made great contributions to the progress of human civilization. Such monuments are generally built by state organs or social organizations. Such as the Monument to the People's Heroes and the Monument to Linxu.

(5) Memorable monument

Monuments mainly refer to inscriptions used to record important or meaningful things at that time. Notes on martyrdom of martyrs such as Wang Ruofei. Commemorative inscriptions should focus on narration and less discussion. In addition, the tablet is important or valuable, and it is not allowed to set up the tablet at will. If the monument is built too much, it will lose its original intention.

(6) Poetry tablet

This kind of tablet does not refer to the inscription written in the style of poetry, but refers to the tablet built for poetry. In places of interest and historical sites, poems carved on celebrities in cultural landscapes often increase tourists' interest and add a lot of cultural atmosphere to lakes and mountains. Such poems can be seen almost everywhere in the mountains of Mingchuan.
