Lin Daqin, a native of Haiyang County, Chaozhou Prefecture, Ming Dynasty, was born in a scholarly family. He loved Su Shi's poems since he was a child, almost fondle admiringly, and regarded Su Shi as an idol. When he was a teenager, his father died of illness due to family changes, and he was penniless. Lin Daqin was admitted to a scholar and became a teacher in a local private school, but he didn't neglect his studies. Participated in Jiajing's 10-year rural examination and got the sixth place. The examiner once praised him: "He will be the best in the world."

In the eleventh year of Jiajing, that is, the second year of China's bid for the Olympic Games, Lin Daqin rushed to the capital thousands of miles away with dry food to take the exam that year. After fierce competition, he stood out from the candidates and was rated as the twelfth by several ministers of the Ministry of Rites, so he was qualified to take the entrance examination. According to historical records, "Duh, there are thousands of words, the speed is fast, and the public security is extremely embarrassing." That is to say, Lin Daqin's literary talent was so good that he conquered Emperor Jiajing in one fell swoop and was appointed as the top scholar in the subject. At that time, he was only in his early twenties, and it was very rare to win the top prize at this age in history.

Now that he has become famous, he was soon sealed six official positions by the court. Although Lin Daqin's rank is relatively low compared with that of court etiquette, his future can't be * * *. After all, he is very young and a top scholar. After becoming an official in Beijing, Lin Daqin took her mother to her side, but because of her poor health, she couldn't adapt to the climate in the north, and her health was getting worse every day. In addition, the then Prime Minister Yan Song always looked at Lin Daqin and pushed him out everywhere. Lin Daqin resigned in the name of serving his mother, and then returned to his hometown, only staying in Beijing for two years.

The imperial court ordered Lin Daqin to return to Beijing many times, ready to promote and reuse him, but he declined every time. In the 19th year of Jiajing, his mother Lin died. As a well-known dutiful son, Lin Daqin was heartbroken. After burying his mother, he left home and lived in seclusion in the nearby mountains. He died in his thirties and forties, ending a legendary and dull life. Lin Daqin is brilliant, and couplets are his strong point, leaving many interesting stories about couplets.

When he was a private school teacher, there was a local rich man named Sun Youqing who greatly appreciated Lin Daqin's knowledge. One year, when Sun Youqing celebrated his 60th birthday, he asked his servant to invite Lin Daqin home and put it on the table. At first, Lin Daqin refused. After all, he is only a teacher, and he is flattered to come to the party. But at Sun Youqing's insistence, he finally sat at the top of the table.

Sun Youqing's son-in-law Weng Wanda was very surprised when she saw Lin Daqin sitting at the dining table. She didn't understand why her father-in-law made such an arrangement. Therefore, Weng Wanda, who was in a bad mood, decided to test Lin Daqin's talent. After three glasses of wine, Weng Wanda said to Lin Daqin, "I heard that you are a teacher and you should be able to make a couple. I just thought of an online couplet. I hope you can give me more advice. " Lin Daqin smiled and said, "It's not worth pointing out, but you can try."

Weng Wanda gave the couplet: "The candle is full, like the tongue of a tiger." Then I stared at Lin Daqin, thinking that he must be wrong. What he didn't expect was that Lin Daqin had a well-thought-out bottom line: "Cigarettes rolled like dragons." All the people present expressed admiration. Sun Youqing, in particular, asked Lin Daqin to stay after the banquet, betrothed his youngest daughter in the boudoir to him, and married him with couplets.

One day, Lin Daqin took his servant to the suburbs to play. He had to cross a river, but there was only one boat in the middle of the river. The servant shouted to the boatman, "Our master is the number one scholar today. If you send us to the other side, you will never be mistreated. " The boatman said willfully, "I don't care who he is." If you can't get the first half of what I said, you can't cross the river. " The boatman's couplet reads: "The south boat carries watermelons, and the east wind drives into the north port." Although this couplet is very tricky, including the four directions of southeast and northwest, Lin Daqin made a couplet casually: "Spring clothes and winter rows, Xia Lian sends Qiuxi."
