The natural landscape of Baoding Mountain is very beautiful, which can be described as a fairyland on earth. Both Taoism and Buddhism regard it as an ideal place for self-cultivation and cultivation. In the early years of the Tang Dynasty, Taoism prevailed (in order to improve his position and consolidate his rule, the emperor of the Tang Dynasty recognized "Lao Zi" King Lear as his ancestor, so he promoted Taoism). In the fourth year of Zhenguan in the Tang Dynasty, a Taoist passed by Baoding Mountain, and the main peak of Baoding Mountain looked like a Taoist lying on his back from a distance. Climbing to the top of the mountain, the highest peak in Baoding looks like a Taoist sitting cross-legged, and the two small peaks on both sides of the main peak look like Taoist knees. There is a small mountain peak in front of the "cross-legged Taoist", just like an incense burner, and there is a stone turtle holding its head high under the incense burner, so this mountain is predestined friends with Taoism. And "the peaks on the top of the mountain compete for each other, the mountains overlap and the cliffs are even peaks. Bird's eye view of the earth, the mountains are as low as the sky, the trees are as small as a thousand, and the great rivers and mountains are panoramic. In the mountains, surrounded by peaks, shaded by green trees, green pines and bamboos, clouds steaming, flowers and plants fragrant, vines hanging. Throughout the year, the scenery is pleasant. Hundreds of flowers are in full bloom in spring, cicadas are singing in the valley in summer, the mountains are full of red leaves in autumn, the snow is covered in winter, and the continuous bursts of pines make people linger. " (Excerpted from the original issue of Dianjiang Daily, Baodingshan Tourism Resort). It is a rare ideal place for self-cultivation, so it was reported to the court to build a Taoist temple in Baoding Mountain. Wei Chijingde, the founding hero of the Tang Dynasty and the door god (also known as Hu Jingde because of the surname given by Li Shiming of Emperor Taizong), under the command of Li Shiming of Emperor Taizong, was responsible for the specific work of building a Taoist temple-Qingfeng Temple on Baoding Mountain (according to the religious records of the county annals of the Qing Dynasty, the temple on the mountain was first created by Hu Jingde of Emperor Taizong). One thousand years later, during the reign of Yongzheng and Qianlong in the Qing Dynasty, a monk named He from Aoshan, Leiyang, Hunan, traveled around the world (the inscription records that he walked through three mountains and five mountains and traveled all over the north and south Beijing) and came to Baoding. He saw that although the breeze view in Baoding Mountain was shabby, it had beautiful scenery and was an ideal place for self-cultivation, so he rebuilt the temple and changed the Taoist breeze view to the Buddhist temple "Guangxiang Temple" as his post station. The religious history and cultural accumulation in recent 1400 years have enriched the cultural landscape of Baoding Mountain. In eastern Chongqing, there are few Taoist temples and temples built on the top of the mountain in history, only Dianjiang Baoding Mountain!
An unexpected archaeological discovery traces the history and culture of Baoding Mountain back to Shang Dynasty, or even earlier. In the early 1970s, in a place called Dianziyakou near Xiazi Mazhai, when Baoding Forest Farm dug a wall to build a forest protection point, a number of Shang Neolithic tools and jade green mother beads were unearthed, which were very valuable at that time. This shows that there were people living and living in blind Mazhai in slave society, and it is speculated that Baoding Mountain may be one of the birthplaces of primitive humans, and these primitive humans may be the common ancestors of Dianjiang people. Therefore, Baoding Mountain has a profound historical and cultural heritage.
