History:
1998, Audi released the production version of the first generation TT at the Paris Motor Show. Compared with the concept car, the appearance has not changed much. Audi's mass production caused quite a stir in the industry-because no one expected this concept car to be mass-produced. With a more fashionable appearance and a more grounded price, TT instantly snatched more than half of the popularity of Mercedes-Benz SLK.
At the Geneva Motor Show in 1999, Audi released the convertible TT.
During the period of 1999, a series of traffic accidents caused by TT high-speed out of control attracted media attention. Audi immediately investigated this problem, and the final report showed that when the speed of TT exceeded 180 km/h, the vehicle would get out of control and lead to a vicious accident if drastic operations such as emergency merging were carried out.
Therefore, Audi recalled all TT models sold from the end of 1999 to the beginning of 2000. The improvement scheme is to improve the rear suspension setting, increase ESP, install a small tail at the tail and increase the downforce at high speed.
At the Tokyo Motor Show in 2005, Audi introduced the TT shooting brake concept car. Although it has not been mass-produced (it seems impossible now), its appearance has indeed paved the way for the upcoming second generation TT.
