Who invented the toothbrush?
The toothbrush was invented by Zhu Shitang, Emperor Xiaozong of the Ming Dynasty in China.

As early as 2000 years ago, the ancients in China discovered the importance of brushing teeth, and the tool used was wicker. As the saying goes, "chew gum in the morning".

In ancient times, people soaked Yang Liuzhi in water, and chewed Yang Liuzhi when brushing their teeth, resulting in thin and soft strips, forming bristles similar to modern toothbrushes, which have both the functions of toothbrushes and toothpicks. Later, in 1498, Emperor Xiaozong of Ming Dynasty invented the toothbrush, which was then called "bristle brush", the predecessor of toothbrush.

History of invention:

According to the data of American Dental Association, the first toothbrush in the world was invented by Emperor Ming Xiaozong of China in 1498 by inserting short and hard pig hair into the bone handle. The traditional method of washing teeth in the west is to wipe and brush teeth with a rag, which has existed at least in ancient Rome.

Toothbrushes did not appear until17th century, and did not become popular until19th century. 1938, DuPont Chemical introduced a toothbrush with synthetic fibers instead of animal hair, and the first toothbrush with nylon filaments as bristles went on sale on February 24th of that year.

At present, the common toothbrush has four parts: brush head, brush neck, brush hair and brush handle. The brush head should be shorter and narrower, so as to reach into the whole mouth and clean the difficult parts. It is best to have an arc brush head to avoid scratching your teeth. Brush neck should have proper curvature.
