Huang Huali was once called "Hualu", "Huali" and "Huali" in history. Many ancient documents clearly recorded the texture characteristics and origin of this wood. For example, a book wrote: "Hua Lu went out to Annan and Hainan to make a bed, like red sandalwood, with good sex."
For a long time, there are different opinions about the origin of the word "huanghuali". Some people think that the word "yellow" was added before huali because of the extensive use of new and low-grade huali in the late Qing Dynasty. Others believe that at the beginning of the 20th century, the Chinese Building Society, founded by the famous scholar Liang Sicheng, added the word "yellow" in front of the old pear of Ming-style furniture in order to distinguish between the old and the new.
However, it is not difficult to see from some books in the Qing Dynasty that during the Guangxu period in the late Qing Dynasty, it was originally proposed to use "Huang Huali Wood" as a building material in the mausoleum, which was placed on the east and west sides of the main hall of Cixi Mausoleum and the Treasure Temple in Jidi. "In addition to the upper and lower eaves, the planting of trees in the main hall is still as originally estimated. Except for Nanbai wood, the rest are planned to be changed into Huang Huali wood, so as to be unified." The date of this person's folding is June of the 23rd year of Guangxu, that is, A.D. 1897, which is the earliest and clearest record of the appearance of "Huanghualimu" in the historical documents I have seen so far. Accordingly, the name "Huang Huali" appeared at the latest in Guangxu period in the late Qing Dynasty.
