What contribution did wheat make in the history of China?
Wheat is one of the most successful exotic crops and has received the most extensive attention. There are many crops planted in the history of our country, but few of them are valued like wheat. In the pre-Qin period, on the moon in Ji Chun, the son of heaven prayed to God for a bumper harvest of wheat, and this concern was not found in other crops. Dong Zhongshu, a thinker of Han Dynasty, suggested to Emperor Wu of Han Dynasty that wheat planting should be popularized in Guanzhong area. The court also distributed seeds to the poor without wheat seeds, exempted land rent and lent them to the victims. It was because of the attention of the imperial court that wheat was successfully popularized in China, and greatly influenced the planting mode of ancient crops in China.
