When is ginger planted?
Ginger is a perennial herb of zingiberaceae, which has good medicinal value, likes temperature, and its rhizome growth needs high temperature. Ginger has a long history of cultivation in China. In the Western Han Dynasty, ginger has become an important cash crop, but it was widely planted in the south. In the late Ming dynasty, cultivation began in the north. In the Qing Dynasty, ginger was widely planted in northern China. At present, it is planted all over the country except in cold areas such as northeast and northwest. Guangdong and Zhejiang are more common in the south, and Shandong Province is the main producing area in the north.

Growth period of ginger:

Southern ginger can be planted in March-April. Generally speaking, if you sow early in the appropriate sowing period, the growth period of ginger will be longer and higher yield can be obtained. When sowing is too late, the growth period of ginger is too short, and the yield will decrease obviously. It is more suitable to sow in early March-early April. As the agricultural proverb says, "Qingming taro, grain rain ginger" is the truth. However, the planting of ginger in the northern region will be later, usually from late April to early May. Of course, if the planting time of southern ginger is still based on the low-heat valley area, ginger cultivated by accelerating germination or using plastic film can also be planted earlier.
