Zhejiang University is a national key university with a long history. Its predecessor Qiushi Academy was founded in 1897, and it is one of the earliest institutions of higher learning for China people.

In the early 1950s, when the national colleges and universities were adjusted, they were divided into several single-subject schools. Among them, four schools in Hangzhou, namely Zhejiang University, Hangzhou University, Zhejiang Agricultural University and Zhejiang Medical University, merged again in September 1998 to form today's Zhejiang University.

After 100 years of construction and development, the school has become a research-oriented comprehensive university with solid foundation, strong strength, distinctive features, first-class domestic and great international influence. It is one of the first key universities to enter the national "2 1 1 Project" and "985 Plan".

The current president is Professor Pan Yunhe, an academician of China Academy of Engineering and an expert in artificial intelligence.

The school is located in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, a famous historical and cultural city in China and a world-famous scenic spot.

It is an important city in the Yangtze River Delta along the southeast coast of China, with Suzhou and Shanghai in the north, Yungang in the east and Fujian and Guangdong in the south.

The school has six campuses, Yuquan, Xixi, Huajiachi, Hubin, Zhijiang and Zijin Port, covering an area of 5.33 square kilometers and distributed in different directions in Hangzhou.

The disciplines of Zhejiang University cover eleven categories, including philosophy, economics, law, education, literature, history, science, engineering, agriculture, medicine and management.
