The merits and demerits of bombing the Huayuankou of the Yellow River
Merit: The breach of the bank at Huayuankou really played a role in temporarily stopping the aggressor's attack, especially at that time. The flood really dampened the enemy's spirit, broke a series of battle plans, and gained a short buffer time for China.

Chao: At least10.4 million houses in Henan were destroyed and more than 8 million mu of cultivated land was flooded. Anhui and Jiangsu affected farmland 1 6,543.8+0 million mu, with 4.8 million homeless people, and countless people were once displaced.

Consequence: Every year in flood season, the Yellow River overflows and floods farmland. As we all know, the Yellow River water can't be heavy at all, not to mention such a large amount. After the flood, there was a plague of locusts, and the abrupt surface made it impossible to cultivate, which caused a large-scale disaster to agriculture.

When Huayuankou was successfully blocked, there were still 120-mile dams in the liberated areas, and 37 dangerous projects were not completed. However, during this period, the amount of water was small and the water flow was slow, and the first phase of repairing the old dikes was basically completed, which forced the downstream areas to invest more manpower and material resources to step up the dike repair and set off a self-help movement to save the river.

By June 27, the restoration and danger removal of the old embankment had been basically completed. After the Huayuankou was blocked, the first flood of the Yellow River in the flood season arrived at the end of July, 1947, and no major danger occurred.
