Huangchuan County, known as Gwangju (Fu Guang) in ancient times, is the birthplace of Huang and Chen, located in the southeast of Henan Province and the east-central Xinyang. Huangchuan is adjacent to Dabie Mountain in the south, Huaihe River in the north, Guangshan Mountain in the west, a shopping mall in the south, Gushi in the east, and Xixian County and Huaibin across the Huaihe River in the north. Total area 1666 438+0 km2.
In the Qing Dynasty, Yongzheng promoted Gwangju to Zhili Prefecture, which was placed under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Henan Province, and governed Guangshan, Gushi, Xixian and Shangcheng counties. In the second year of the Republic of China, Gwangju Zhili Prefecture was changed to Huangchuan County; Seventeen years is the third administrative region, which governs Huangchuan, Guangshan, Gushi, Xixian, Shangcheng, Xinyang, Luoshan and Zhengyang counties.
In twenty-one years, it was the ninth administrative supervision department of Henan Province, with jurisdiction over eight counties: Huangchuan, Guangshan, Gushi, Xixian, Shangcheng, Xinyang, Luoshan and Jingfu (now Xinxian). 1949 1 huangchuan was liberated, huangchuan department was established, and it was merged into Xinyang by 1952.

It was upgraded to Zhili Prefecture in the Qing Dynasty, and Gwangju was changed to Huangchuan County in the second year of the Republic of China.
Huangchuan culture has a long history. Great literary masters such as Ma Zuchang in Jin Dynasty, Liu Hui in Ming Dynasty and Shang Dynasty all left immortal masterpieces. There are many cultural relics and historic sites in China. The site of Guo Huang Ancient City is a provincial key cultural relic protection unit, and many unearthed bronzes are collected in the Chinese History Museum.
