Suqian has a long history, with the earliest ancient human activity site in Jiangsu Province-"Xiacaowan Cultural Site", which is the hometown of Xiang Yu, a hero of the Western Chu Dynasty who does not judge success or failure in China history.
On the bank of Huaihe River, ancestors lived near the water 50,000 years ago, which is called "Xiacaowan People's Cultural Site". According to legend, in the Xia, Shang and Zhou Dynasties, an ancient clan Xu Yi lived here. In 1 13 BC, Surabaya Kingdom established its capital here, which lasted 132 years. Xia Xiang County was established in Qin Dynasty, Suyu County in Eastern Jin Dynasty, and Suqian was renamed in the first year of Baoying in Tang Daizong. Suqian has beautiful scenery and numerous landscapes. Gan Long went to Jiangnan six times and stayed in Suqian five times, praising Suqian as "the first spring profit". Suqian, formerly known as Suyu, is located in the Yang of Huaishui in northern Jiangsu.
Suqian, a prefecture-level city, 1996, now governs Siyang County, Sihong County, Sucheng District, suyu district, Suqian Economic Development Zone, Susu Industrial Park, Hubin New Town Development Zone and Yanghe New Town, with a total area of 8,555 square kilometers.
