Shuijingui is one of the "four famous teas" of Wuyi Rock Tea. It is produced on the half cliff under Gezhai Peak in Niulankeng Community, Wuyishan District. Named for its dense tea leaves and luster like scarabs. Picked in mid-May every year, mainly two or three leaves, with green color, sweet taste and high aroma. Drink strong but not bitter. The color is green, brown, moist and bright, showing "Bao Guang".
According to legend, on the panic day of the late Qing Dynasty, the magistrate of Chongxian County and the officials of Imperial Tea Garden took foremen, laborers, field workers, handymen and local tea farmers as usual to offer sacrifices to the tea gods at the podium of Imperial Tea Garden. During the sacrifice, firecrackers exploded and gongs and drums roared. "Tea bud, tea bud!" The shouts alarmed the old scarab who specially watered the tea trees in the Jade Emperor Fairy Tea Garden in the sky. This old scarab has been practicing in Xuyun Cave in Qingyun Mountain for thousands of years. On the last day, she wanted to get a formal position. Unexpectedly, the Jade Emperor ignored him and sent him to the fairy tea garden to weed and water the fairy tea tree. At the beginning, he was in the same boat with the Monkey King, the "Monkey King" who was in charge of the Fairy Peach Garden, comforting each other, but also having peace of mind. Later, the Monkey King rebelled against heaven, and the old scarab became lonely. She felt uneasy. On this day, he was awakened by the shouts of offering tea in Wuyishan Imperial Tea Garden, and could not help sneaking out of the worse gate to watch the excitement. When he saw the Wuyishan county magistrate kneeling on Shoushan with all the people uniformly, the red candles under the stage and on the stage had a high fever and rich offerings, and all the people under the stage worshipped tea, which was really sincere and very touching. They thought they had been in heaven for many years, but no one cared, so they didn't fight. The old beetle sighed, "just let it be! That's all! A thousand-year-old scarab who has practiced Taoism is not as good as a tea on earth. It is better to make a tea on earth! " The old beetle sighed and decided to find a place to live. Its eyes swept the thirty-six peaks of Wuyishan Jiuqu, only to see Niulan pit in the north of the mountain abrupt, thousands of rocks competing for green, fertile soil under the rock, a trickle of mountain springs, and Niulan pit full of spring and vitality. Based on long-term tea experience, the old scarab decided that this must be an excellent place for tea tree growth. "Yes, just go there and make a famous tea." This idea must be certain. The old scarab began her magic and her mouth was full of rain. There was a sudden rainstorm in Wuyishan, and the mountain torrents were rushing through the valleys of Qian Shan with sediment. Scarab took the opportunity to turn into a tea tree with lush tea leaves, and went down to a place in the semi-rock of Gu Lan in Niulankeng Dugezhai with the debris flow. The old scarab put away her magic, stopped her figure and took root.
As soon as the heavy rain stopped, a monk from Shile Temple came out to inspect the mountain. He looked around and suddenly his eyes lit up. He saw a cluster of green tea bushes on the semi-rock of Languyan. The green light shone like a big scarab lying in the pit between the rock wall and the drinking water. The monk has been practicing in Shile Temple for many years and knows everything in the temple like the back of his hand. Suddenly, so many shiny green things appeared in front of him, which really surprised him. He leaned carefully against a bamboo pole and slowly approached to look at it. The closer he gets, the clearer he can see. It turned out that there was a magical tea tree flowing down from the mountain when it rained. This tea tree is different from other tea trees. Its spreading branches are many-hued, which looks like stripes on tortoise shells at close range. From a distance, the green leaves of tea trees are thick and bright, more like a big beetle. The more monks watch it, the more they like it. He hurried back to the temple and reported to the abbot. When the old abbot heard the news, he told the monks who were patrolling the mountain to beat gongs and drums, called the whole temple staff, and told everyone that the "Jade Emperor" had brought us gold branches and jade leaves, put on robes and lined up to welcome the treasure. Monks in the whole temple follow the abbot to light candles and burn incense, recite Buddhist scriptures and go to Niulan Pit to pay homage to the tea tree that fell from the sky, and move bricks and stones around the tea tree to build a teahouse, and then send people to take turns to take care of it every day. As soon as the old scarab fell from the sky, it was treated by the monks and naturally happy. In order to repay the kindness of the monk, the old scarab made the tea tree more and more lush, with green leaves like jasper and golden sunshine like a big scarab. This kind of tea brewed by tea tree has a wonderful taste and is named "water beetle". Soon, the "water turtle" stood out from many famous Wuyi rock teas and became the "treasure tree" of Shile Stone Temple.
