What is America 66 famous for? Does it have anything special to do with California?
Route 66, completed at 1927, also known as "the main street of America", is one of the main traffic arteries in American history. At present, it is listed as a national scenic spot and named "Historical Line 66". Route 66 starts from Chicago in the east, passes through eight states from east to west, and reaches Santa Monica in Los Angeles, California in the west, with a total length of 3,940 kilometers. During the Great Depression and World War II in the 1930s, many farms and wartime industries in California provided a lot of employment opportunities, and route 66 became the main way for many Americans to seek jobs in California. In 1950s, route 66 was the main road for Americans to drive to Los Angeles for their holidays, which greatly promoted the economy along the way. In the overwhelming tide of automobile culture, McDonald's Brothers opened the world's first McDonald's fast food restaurant in San Bernardino, California on 1940. The Disney cartoon film Cars is also set in route 66. View original post >>
