Jiangsu Province, referred to as "Su" for short, is located on the eastern coast, bordering the Yellow Sea in the east and the four provinces of Shanghai, Zhejiang, Anhui and Shandong. In a.d. 1667, a province was established due to the partition of east and west in the south of the Yangtze River. The province is called "Jiangnan Jianghuai Yangxu Haitong and other places to undertake publicity and deployment department" and "Jiangnan Susong Changzhentai and other places to undertake publicity and deployment department", which are collectively referred to as short names.

Jiangsu has fertile land, rich products and many local specialties.
It has world cultural heritages such as Suzhou Gardens, the Ming Tombs and the Grand Canal in China, world intangible cultural heritages such as Kunqu Opera, Guqin, seal cutting, paper-cutting and Yunjin, and national intangible cultural heritages such as Suzhou embroidery, clay sculpture, jade carving and Xuzhou sachet.
Nanjing salted duck, Suzhou Biluochun, Zhenjiang balsamic vinegar, Suqian Gan Long tribute cake and other special foods and cultural products in Jiangsu have a long history, which embodies strong local cultural customs.
