Chengdu Aviation Vocational and Technical College was founded in 1965, and Desheng Intermediate Technical School was founded by the Third Ministry of Machinery Industry. From 1966 to 1998, the school was renamed and restructured many times, and 1998 became the first aviation vocational college approved by the Ministry of Education in China.
The school is a public full-time ordinary college directly under the Education Department of Sichuan Province, the first batch of national higher vocational colleges approved by the Ministry of Education, the first batch of national demonstration higher vocational colleges, and the first batch of national oriented training non-commissioned officers schools.

1998, approved by the Ministry of Education, Chengdu Aviation Industry School was transformed into Chengdu Aviation Vocational and Technical College, becoming the first batch of higher vocational colleges in China.
