What copper mine sites have scientists discovered in Mayang, Hunan and Tonglushan, Daye, Hubei?
1979 In April, scientists discovered a copper mine site during the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period in Mayang, Hunan. There are 14 ancient mines, one of which is mined in the open pit and the others are mined underground. 1974 another copper mine was discovered in Tonglushan, Daye, Hubei Province during the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period. This ancient mine is very well preserved and is a valuable historical relic. Archaeologists excavated two wellheads: "Twelve old caves" and "Twenty-four old caves", which are more than 300 meters apart. The excavation point of the "Twelve-Line Ancient Cave" is more than 40 meters away from the surface. In this 50-square-meter excavation area, eight vertical shafts and one inclined shaft were found. The shaft wellhead is about 80 cm in diameter. The excavation point of "Twenty-four Ancient Cave" is more than 50 meters away from the surface. In the excavation area of about 120 square meters, there are five vertical shafts, 1 inclined roadway and 10 drift. The diameter of shaft wellhead is generally 1 10 to130cm, which is larger than the "Twelve-Line Old Cave".
