Indications and contraindications of urethral dilatation

Urethral dilation was performed with rigid probe. Through urethral exploration and mechanical massage dilatation, local blood circulation is enhanced and scar tissue is softened and infiltrated, which is the basic operation method commonly used in clinical diagnosis and treatment of urethral stricture.

Indications for urethral dilatation are as follows:

1 detect whether there is urethral stricture, and the location and degree of stricture;

2

To know whether there are stones or foreign bodies in urethra;

three

Prevention and treatment of urethral inflammation, injury and postoperative stenosis;

four

Contractive obstruction of bladder neck;

five

Female distal urethral stricture with different degrees of dysuria can be dilated with large urethral bougie.

Contraindications for urethral dilatation:

1

Acute inflammation of urethra and prostate, or urethral dilatation when urethral secretion is too much, can lead to the spread of inflammation;

2

In patients with suspected urethral tumors, urethral dilatation may lead to the risk of tumor implantation and spread.

three

Urethral injury, mainly posterior urethral injury or bulbar urethral injury caused by pelvic fracture and perineal riding injury, can be aggravated by transurethral dilation examination, leading to perforation, false channel or hemorrhagic shock;

four

Urethral fever and urinary tract infection occurred after each dilatation;

five

For any type of urethral stricture, if the urethral dilatation reaches 3-6 months every week, the expected effect is still not received or the effect is not good, other methods should be considered.
