What is the driving force of social and historical development and what role does it play?
First, the dynamic system of social development and its composition

There are many driving forces to promote social development, and all the elements and contradictions that constitute human society are the driving forces to promote social development. These driving forces are not isolated and unrelated, but closely linked and mutually restricted, forming a dynamic system of social development. It includes:

(1) The contradiction between productive forces and relations of production, and the two basic social contradictions of economic base and superstructure all promote social development to varying degrees.

In class society, class struggle is the direct driving force to promote social development.

Social revolution and social reform are the driving forces to promote social development.

(4) The people are the great driving force for social development.

The important role of science in social development.

The role of interpersonal communication in promoting social development.

2. Understand the meaning of social basic contradiction and its world outlook and methodological significance.

1. Meaning: The contradiction between productive forces and relations of production, and the contradiction between economic base and superstructure are two basic social contradictions. This is a basic social contradiction, because:

⑴ These two pairs of contradictions run through human society from beginning to end, and are the root of all other contradictions, which stipulate and restrict the existence and development of other social contradictions.

(2) The interaction of these two pairs of contradictions has become the fundamental driving force of social development, that is, their contradictory movements have promoted the development of human society from the lower level to the higher level.

⑶ These two pairs of contradictory movements form the law that production relations must adapt to the situation of production separation, and the law of dialectical development of superstructure and economic base. This is the most basic law of the development of human society.
