Historical evolution of Honghe county
During the Tang Dynasty (Nanzhao), some tribes, such as Guanguisi Tuobu and Tierong Dibu, rose and belonged to Nanzhao Tonghai Dufu.

The Song Dynasty (Dali) was listed in the "Thirty-seven Barbarian Wars" and belonged to Xiushan County.

The Yuan Dynasty successively belonged to Heni Road and Yuanjiang Road. During this period, there were 10,000 households who were afraid of falling and 10,000 deputy households in Xixi, belonging to general manager office, South Road, and implemented the detention policy.

During the Hongwu period of the Ming Dynasty, the hereditary toast system was formally established in China, and six long-term litigations were set up, including Kuirong Hall, Situo Hall, Luo Fear Hall, Chu Hall, Wazha Hall and Zuoneng Hall, all of which belonged to Lin 'an Prefecture, making it one of the areas with more toast in Yunnan border counties.

From the Qing Dynasty to the Republic of China, except Yisa and Langya, which were under the jurisdiction of Yuanjiang Prefecture (state or county), all other areas were Tusi Prefecture, which were successively under the jurisdiction of Lin 'an Prefecture, Jianshui Prefecture and Shiping Prefecture (county).
