Banpo site is located in the east of Xi, which is a typical matriarchal clan commune village site and belongs to Yangshao culture. More than 400 such relics have been found in Guanzhong area of the Yellow River Basin, so the Yellow River Basin is called the cradle of China culture.
From 65438 to 0958, Banpo Museum, the first site museum in China, was established on the basis of archaeological excavations. Banpo Museum has 2 exhibition halls and 1 ruins hall. The first exhibition hall mainly displays the production tools found in Banpo site, including stone tools, fishing gear, spinning wheel, bone needle, fishhook and harpoon, from which we can understand various scenes of Banpo people's production activities. The cultural relics exhibited in the second exhibition hall reflect the social life, culture and art, and various inventions and creations of Banpo people. Fish pattern on human face is a typical work of Banpo painted pottery painting, and this vivid image reflects Banpo people's rich artistic imagination. The fish pattern on the face is distinct, there is a triangular bun on the top of the head, and each corner of the mouth holds a small fish. This picture reflects the close relationship and special feelings between Banpo people and fish, and fish may be the totem worshipped by Banpo clan.
