There are about 6.5438+0.4 million Kirgiz people, mainly living in Kizilsu Kirgiz Autonomous Prefecture in western Xinjiang, and another 20% are scattered in southern Xinjiang, northern Xinjiang and Heilongjiang. Kirgiz nationality has a long history. Its ancestors lived in the upper reaches of Yenisei River in BC, and were neighbors of Xiongnu and Dingling. They were called "Ji Kun", "Ge Kun" and "Jian Kun" in history. From the middle of 10 century to the middle of 18 century, Kirgiz migrated to Tianshan Mountain, Pamir Plateau and Kunlun Mountain due to the pressure of Liao, Mongolian and Junggar nobles, and Kirgiz in Heilongjiang migrated from Altay, Xinjiang. The Kirgiz nationality in Xinjiang maintains the tradition of animal husbandry, while the Kirgiz nationality in the northeast is mainly agricultural. The folk songs of this nation belong to three major music departments, and the European music department is the most important.
