Suifenhe has a long history. According to archaeological discoveries, Suifenhe had the ancestors of the Chinese nation four or five thousand years ago. In recent years, many ancient cultural sites have been excavated in Jianxin, Dalazi, Dalingxia and Baofugou. Experts' appraisal of unearthed stone tools proves that as early as 4,000 years ago, with the development of Heilongjiang River basin by the Chinese nation, our ancestors began to farm and live in Suifenhe area. According to textual research, these ancestors were the earliest ancient ancestors in Heilongjiang River Basin-Su Shenren (Manchu ancestors). After the establishment of the Qing Dynasty, in order to protect the birthplace of ancestors, most parts of Northeast China were designated as forbidden areas, and now Suifenhe City is among them.
1858, the Qing government signed the "Love Faint Treaty" with Russia, ceding more than 600,000 square kilometers of land north of Heilongjiang to Russia. 1860, Russia annexed more than 400,000 square kilometers of territory east of the Wusuli River in China through the Sino-Russian Beijing Treaty, which made Suifenhe area border on Russia. China residents who originally lived in Shuangchengzi and Vladivostok could not bear the bullying of Russian authorities and moved back to China. Some of them settled in today's Jianhua Village in suifenhe city, forming settlements and becoming the first batch of Suifenhe areas in modern times.
In order to occupy this land far away from Europe more firmly, Russia built the world's longest railway, the Trans-Siberian Railway. The easternmost end of this big railway is Vladivostok, a seaport city on the coast of Japan. Due to the successful construction of trans-siberian railway, Russia continued to expand its power to China. 1896, the Qing government signed the Charter of Sino-Russian Mingdong Railway with Russia, and decided that Russia would build the Middle East Railway in China, and the management right of the Middle East Railway would be owned by Russia. This railway crossing the northeast of China starts from Vladivostok, which is called the first stop, and reaches Suifenhe, which is called the fifth stop, so Suifenhe is also called the fifth stop.
The Middle East Railway was originally designed to enter China along Suifenhe Valley, and the fifth station was built in Sanchakou Village, Dongning County. So the fifth stop is also called Suifenhe Station. However, in the process of construction, due to the complicated geological structure, it moved northward to the hillside 50 kilometers away at an altitude of more than 500 meters, which is now suifenhe city.
1903 After the opening of the Middle East Railway, Suifenhe developed synchronously with Vladivostok and Harbin. At that time, envoys from Russia, Japan, Korea, Britain, France, Italy and the United States 18 countries gathered together, and merchants gathered, bringing European goods, culture and architecture. For a time, the flags of seventeen or eighteen countries were flying in the town, which was called "flag town" and was once known as "border commercial city" and "window of East Asia". Because Suifenhe was the earliest train and bus in Northeast China, it was the first to have electric lights and telephones, and it was awarded the title of "Civilization Center", which was recorded in Jilin Tongzhi.
1933 After the Japanese Kwantung Army occupied Suifenhe River, the Sino-Soviet railway was blocked, Suifenhe River became increasingly depressed, and the population dropped sharply. 1945 Suifenhe Guangfu. Since the founding of New China for more than ten years, Suifenhe Port has been responsible for the transportation of strategic materials and import and export goods between China and the Soviet Union, with a cargo throughput of nearly 2 million tons in the highest year. From the early 1960s to the late 1970s, due to the deterioration of Sino-Soviet political relations, the two countries were in the cold war period, so the trade between the two countries was at a standstill. Since 1980s, due to the gradual improvement of Sino-Soviet political relations, the economic and trade relations between the two countries have taken a new turn. 1984 and 1985, China and the Soviet union signed the agreement on economic and technological cooperation and the agreement on trade and payment (1986- 1990).
With the approval of 1992 the State Council, suifenhe city has made a historic leap from a provincial experimental area to a national border open city.
June 1999 With the approval of the Chinese and Russian governments, the Sino-Russian Suibo Free Trade Zone (trade complex) was established.
In 2004, the Heilongjiang Provincial Party Committee and the provincial government proposed to promote the strategic upgrade of economic, trade and scientific and technological cooperation with Russia, and "strive to turn Suifenhe into Shenzhen in the north and make Suifenhe bigger and stronger". As a milestone of China's border opening, the construction of Sino-Russian Suifenhe-Pogranich trade zone has been fully launched.
In 2007, it put forward the development strategy of building an international business and tourism city and making every effort to build "Shenzhen in the North".
