Jinan Technician College was founded in 1958, formerly known as Jinan Labor Bureau Technical School, and was affiliated to Shandong Human Resources and Social Security Department.
In March 2002 and July 2003, it was approved by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security and the Shandong Provincial People's Government as Jinan Senior Technical School, and it was a deputy department-level institution.
In July 2005, Jinan Municipal People's Government merged Jinan Petrochemical Technical School, Jinan Grain Technical School and Jinan Commercial Technical School into Jinan Senior Technical School.
In June 2005, with the approval of Shandong Provincial People's Government, it was renamed Jinan University of Technology.
In June 2009, with the approval of Shandong Provincial People's Government, Jinan Institute of Technology was restructured into Jinan Technician College.
20 14 12, Jinan Railway Senior Technical School was merged into Jinan Technician College.
