Xenophon is knowledgeable and good at writing. His works cover many fields, such as politics, philosophy, military affairs, economy and so on, and have become required reading documents for future generations to comprehensively study ancient Greek society.
(2) Created a new genre of narrating history with people.
Xenophon paid great attention to the activities of historical figures in Greek history. His works such as Biography of Agasilaus and Education in Ju Lushi have initially formed a typical biographical genre. Later, historians in ancient Greece began to regard biography as a form of historical works, and realized the importance of narrating the deeds of historical figures, which finally reached the peak of Plutarch's Biography of Who.
③ Attach importance to economic life.
Xenophon paid more attention to people's economic life and the important position of economic factors in social life than any historian at that time. In his two economic monographs, he used the word "economy" for the first time, systematically expounded the economic theory of slave owners for the first time, and described the economic affairs of ancient Greek city-states in detail, which provided convenience for future generations to study and understand the social history of ancient Greece. In Das Kapital, volume 1, Marx quoted Xenophon's works to illustrate the social division of labor in ancient Greece.
