Recently, I read the article "Idle Reading Heaven and Earth" in issue 20 12. After visiting Banpo and Hemudu ancient human sites on the spot, the author painted a picture of ancient human life for us. The article systematically describes the basic necessities of life and entertainment activities of ancient humans, and one detail caught my attention.
When I visited the cultural relics, I found that in the early life of mankind, bone knives and forks appeared as tableware (Zongri site in Tongde County, Qinghai Province), which has a history of more than 5,800 years. In my impression, the ancients in China seemed to grasp rice directly with their hands. In addition, the Analects of Confucius once said that "you can't slap rice", which seems to confirm this view. Then they began to use chopsticks on a large scale. I have never heard of the time when knives and forks were used as tableware. In fact, chopsticks appeared very early. 42 bone chopsticks were unearthed from Longqiuzhuang site in Gaoyou City, Jiangsu Province. Their discovery can trace the time when China people used chopsticks back to 6600 ~ 5500 years ago. Early humans made a choice between chopsticks and knives and forks. Dr. Li Zhengdao, winner of the Nobel Prize in Physics, once commented: "These two simple things have fully applied the leverage principle in physics. Chopsticks are an extension of human fingers ... and they are not afraid of high heat and cold. It's so talented. "
