How to declare a famous historical and cultural city?
National historical and cultural cities are determined and announced by People's Republic of China (PRC) and the State Council. It is 1982 a cultural relic protection institution proposed by Peking University, Zheng of the Ministry of Construction and Shan Shiyuan of the Palace Museum. The cities listed in the list are all cities that are particularly rich in preserved cultural relics, have great historical value or commemorative significance, and are continuing to use. At present, China has announced 103 national historical and cultural cities.

China's historical and cultural cities are mainly divided into seven categories according to the characteristics of each city, namely

Special functional type: a certain function of a city occupies a very prominent position in history, such as "Yancheng" Zigong and "porcelain capital" Jingdezhen;

General types of historical sites: cities with cultural relics scattered all over the city as the main way to reflect historical traditions, such as Changsha and Jinan.
